David was born in Solihull and trained at the Birmingham school of speech and drama.
David was part of the resident company at Midland arts Centre for two years-most notably in “Treasure Island” and “Arabian Nights”-as deviser,writer and music creator. David’s own company Theatre Compound won critical acclaim on tour with his productions of “Bent”,”The Normal Heart”,”Someone Who’ll watch over me” and “Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth”-directing and appearing in each.
National tours and plays in rep have included “Suddenly at Home” ,Murder with love”, ” The Sound of Murder”, “The Real Monty”, “On Golden Pond”, ”Time and the Conways, ”A Christmas Carol”, ,”A Touch of Danger”, ”Sweet Revenge” , ”Deathtrap”, ”Blithe Spirit” ,”Inside Job” ,”Strangers on a train” ,”One for the Pot” and three tours of the hit comedy-”Ladies Night”.
Musicals have included ”Blondel” and the Narrator in “The Rocky Horror Show” . In Brighton he appeared in the reviews-”Push Bar to Open”-featuring the songs of Noel Coward and as lead singer in “Broadway Calling”.
David's skill as a radio actor and voice artist secured him the role of Hugh Paddick in two tours of "Round the Horne-revisited" as well as the original West End and BBC television productions.
David regularly performs as Dame in pantomime and has notched up “Dame hat-tricks” at Chelmsford and Chesham.Last Christmas he appeared at the Harlequin theatre,Redhill in “Snow White”.
David regularly appears in concerts,olde time music hall and his own one man shows,concerts and cabaret.Shows have included "The Magic of Gilbert and Sullivan", and themed shows featuring the work of Coward,Kern and Gershwin.
Television appearances have included “Soldier Soldier”,”Miss Marple-The Mirror Cracked”, “Kinsy”,”2.4 Children” “Minder” and as Lord Nelson in the 2000 Royal Tournament in London.
David has written numerous pantomime/revue scripts and lyrics ,most recently for Civic Theatre,Chelmsford’s production of “Beauty and the Beast.
In 2009 David has recently completed a run of “Stop Messing About” at the Rose Theatre ,Kingston,(prior to it’s West End transfer) and a tour of the thriller “Strictly Murder”.
He will be appearing as Dame in pantomime at Hunstanton this year in “Beauty and the Beast”
