Short Story Writers: Ann Smith
A Londoner, born within the sound of Bow Bells. I was brought up in North London, educated in West London, did English at Oxford (because I wanted to write from the age of seven. Later ambitions also included being a ballet-dancer or a nun, though I didn't follow them up.) Much later I did Philosophy at London University.
I've taught in local schools and colleges. I once had a job as a postman. I now have five grown children and six grandchildren (one brand-new)...and still keep writing, almost anything: short stories, articles, poetry, novels... even in hospital ( I published some 'Hospital Verses' last year).
Also published: a college history, an anthology, collected short stories, a novel, and have recently re-written a thriller.
I now live in leafy West London...idyllic if it weren't for the planes to Heathrow.
